Scottish Country Dance Instruction
Mountains And Fountains (4x32S) 32 bar strathspey for 4 couples in a longwise set, Murrough Landon, 2023.1-8 2nd and 3rd couples dance a Chain Progression and end facing out in progressed places.
9-16 3rd man with 2nd man in tandem behind him, also 2nd woman with 3rd woman in tandem, each dance alternating tandem reels of three on sides, starting right shoulder to 1st man and 4th woman. On the last two bars the tandem pairs cross over to face out on opposite sides. The order is now 1,3,2,4 with 3rd and 2nd couples on opposite sides.
17-22 1st with 3rd couples also 2nd with 4th couples each dance six bars of double figures of eight. All are now facing up or down on their own side in the order 3,1,4,2.
23-24 3rd with 1st and 4th with 2nd couples turn once round on the sides with the easiest hand: 3rd with 1st men and 4th with 2nd women, giving right hands, turn once round on the sides as their partners turn with the left hand. 1st woman and 4th man end on the sides while 1st man and 4th women end coming in towards the centre line.
25-28 1st and 4th couples circle four hands once round to the left releasing hands on bar 4 and chase the last quarter to end facing their nearest corner on the side.
29-32 1st and 4th couples dance left shoulders round their nearest corner on the side and end on own sides in the order 3,1,4,2.
