Dance Information
This dance is dedicated to June McGregor Jain, a friend of Duncan and Maggie for almost forty years.During that time she has shared a wide range of dancing activities with the Valley Scottish Country Dancers in the Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia, including regular weekly classes, ceilidhs, workshops, special events, demonstrations, and Burns' Night celebrations.
She values her Scottish ancestry and frequently recounts stories, historical details, and traditional expressions when appropriate. Over a long career in the classroom she introduced many young people in the Valley to aspects of Scottish culture, which forms an important part of Nova Scotia's history. On numerous occasions she has also welcomed dancers and friends to her home for a 'wee cuppa'. In this dance, the right and left handed wheels for three people in bars 21-28 form a figure known locally among Valley dancers as 'Teapots', included in recognition of her hospitality.
