Dance Information

Old Pale Hill is the name given to a recognised walking route within Delamere Forest in Cheshire.

The route leads to the high point of the forest, known as Old Pale, which stands at approximately 176 metres above sea level. From this elevated position there are extensive views across the Cheshire Plain and towards the hills of North Wales, including Snowdonia, in clear conditions.

Delamere Forest is managed by Forestry England and forms the largest area of woodland in Cheshire. The present landscape is largely the result of twentieth-century forestry planting, although the name Delamere derives from the Norman French "de la mere", meaning "of the lake", reflecting the area's earlier wetland character. The Old Pale area itself is an exposed sandstone ridge, shaped by glacial activity during the last Ice Age.
