Dance Information

Javea, also known by its Valencian name Xàbia, is a coastal town located on the easternmost point of the Iberian Peninsula, within the province of Alicante in the Valencian Community, Spain. Positioned on the Mediterranean Sea, Javea boasts a diverse landscape that includes a rugged coastline, sandy beaches, and a mountainous hinterland.

The town is divided into three distinct zones: the historic Old Town, the bustling port area, and the Arenal beach district. Each area contributes to the town's multifaceted character, catering to both residents and tourists. The Old Town, with its narrow streets and historic architecture, reflects the town's rich history, including periods of Roman, Islamic, and Christian influence.

Javea's economy has traditionally relied on agriculture, with the cultivation of oranges and other citrus fruits being a prominent activity. In recent decades, tourism has become a significant economic driver for the region, drawing visitors with its picturesque landscapes and favourable climate. The Arenal beach, with its fine sandy shores and a promenade lined with restaurants and shops, serves as a focal point for tourists.

The natural surroundings of Javea are noteworthy, featuring the Montgó Massif, a mountainous range that provides a dramatic backdrop to the town. The Montgó Natural Park, encompassing the mountain, is designated for its ecological importance and offers hiking opportunities for those interested in exploring the local flora and fauna.

You can see Javea's rich history in places like the San Bartolome Church and the windmills in the Old Town. The town's lively traditions are on display during festivals like the famous San Juan Bonfires, playing a big role in its cultural identity.
