Pardlestone Farm Jig - Scottish Country Dancing Instruction VideoDance Information
This is one of four dances devised by the author during, or shortly after, a journey through the UK, France, and Italy in August and September 2024.The inspiration for this particular dance came from a week spent at Pardlestone Farm, a characterful bed and breakfast in Somerset, the home county of Damon, the author's companion on the trip.
The farm is set in peaceful countryside and offers facilities for guests to bring their own horses and ride on the nearby Quantock Hills. It is also not far from Kilve Beach, a location well known to fossil enthusiasts for its prehistoric discoveries, including dinosaur remains.
The stay at Pardlestone Farm was made especially enjoyable thanks to the hosts. Each morning, Mark rose early to light the fire in the dining room, ensuring it was warm and inviting for breakfast. The jams, including one made from gooseberries, were all prepared on the premises. At the end of each day, Ann would ask after their explorations, always taking time to listen with genuine interest.
