Dance Information
This dance was devised in January 2010 by Helen Beaney to celebrate the 800th anniversary of Perth being granted the Royal Burgh Charter by King William the Lion.It is an eight-hundredth anniversary gift to the children of the Oakbank Scottish Country Dance Club in Perth, who were the first to dance it through completely, and to their teacher, Marilyn Healy.
The first eight bars of the dance symbolize the ancient city walls of Perth, the following eight bars represent the ribbon tied around the charter, and the final 16 bars signify the number 800.
