Dance Information

Potters Pairs is a Scottish Country Dance group based in Hude, Germany, operating as a branch of the sports club TV Hude e.V.

The group holds weekly sessions every Monday from 19:15 to 21:30 at the Jahn Spiegelraum, located at Vielstedter Kirchweg 13, 27798 Hude. In addition to regular classes, Potters Pairs organises an annual Ball and Workshop Weekend.

The origins of Potters Pairs trace back to the early 1990s, when the founder, initially involved in establishing an international folk dance group, discovered a particular interest in Scottish Country Dancing. By around 2000, they began teaching SCD in Oldenburg and subsequently formed their own group, which has expanded from approximately eight to over thirty members. In 2012, the founder obtained a teaching certificate in Edinburgh under Pat Houghton and has served as chairman of the Central Germany Branch since 2016. The group maintains a year-round schedule, typically pausing only during the Christmas period. potterspairs.net

The teaching team at Potters Pairs includes several certified instructors. Judith Kowalczik, co-deviser of The Potter's Pairs, joined in 2007 and earned her RSCDS teaching certificate in 2011. Tobias Huenger became part of the team in 2010 and achieved his certificate in 2014. More recently, Avril and David Quarrie have joined, bringing extensive teaching experience.

Potters Pairs is affiliated with "Harvey's Friends", a group based in Delmenhorst and led by Andrea Kaufmann, who received her teaching certificate in 2004. This group meets on Tuesdays from 19:00 to 20:30 at the DTV Vereinsheim Spiegelsaal, Am Stadtbad 1, Delmenhorst (c. 2025).
