Provost Wynd is a street in the centre of Cupar, Fife, running between Bonnygate and Kirkgate.Several buildings in the street are listed for their architectural or historic interest. Numbers 7, 11, 13, 16 and 23 Provost Wynd are Category C listed buildings, while the Baptist Church is Category B listed.
Number 7 dates from about 1850. Numbers 11 and 13 date from the early 19th century.
The street runs between two churches, with Cupar Parish Church terminating the view to the south and the tower of Bonnygate Church visible at the northern end.
Roy Goldring used Fife locations in the titles of several of his dances. These include The Fife Meeting and Balmullo Reel, named for Balmullo, a village about six miles north-east of Cupar.
The occurrence of these Fife place names among Goldring's dance titles provides geographical context for 'The Provost Wynd', although no published statement by Goldring identifying Cupar's Provost Wynd as the source of the title has been found.
