Dance Information
Purmamarca is a town in the Tumbaya Department of the Jujuy Province in Argentina. The town's name is thought to derive from the Aymara language, combining "purma" (desert) and "marca" (city). However, in Aymara, "desert" can also signify an area untouched by human influence. Consequently, the name is commonly understood as "Town of the virgin land", capturing the notion of an uncivilized or pristine territory.
