Dance Information

Richard III was a historical figure who ruled as the King of England from 1483 until his death in 1485.

Born in 1452, Richard belonged to the House of York during the Wars of the Roses, a series of civil wars for control of the English throne between the Houses of York and Lancaster. Richard III ascended to the throne following the death of his brother, King Edward IV, and the brief reign of his nephew, Edward V.

Richard III's reign is notably associated with the Battle of Bosworth Field in 1485, where he faced off against the forces of Henry Tudor, Earl of Richmond. Richard III was defeated, and his death in the battle marked the end of the Wars of the Roses and the beginning of the Tudor dynasty.

His remains were discovered in 2012 beneath a parking lot in Leicester, shedding more light on aspects of his physical condition and the circumstances of his death.
