Rin the Reel

4x40 bar Reel
4-couple dance in a Square set

  1-8   ADVANCE AND RETIRE TWICE: nearer hands joined in a circle (4 waling steps each way);

  9-24 ½ GRAND CHAIN, TURN PARTNER AND ½ GRAND CHAIN BACK: all dance Star Grand Chain halfway around the set (2 steps to each hand), turn partner by the right hand (2 steps) and Star Grand Chain back (2 steps to each hand) to meet partner;

25-28 ALL TURN: all turn partner 1½ times with right hand once round to original places;

29-32 HEAD COUPLES WHEEL: 1st and 3rd couple dance right hands across;

33-40 ½ TANDEM REEL OF 4 AND CHASE: all dance Tandem Reel of 4 halfway starting by passing right shoulder 1st with 2nd, and 3rd with 4th couple (Head couples start with men in lead, Side couples start with women in the lead followed closely by partner: lead switches at each end of the reel): on bars 36-40 side couples chase home clockwise (on bars 39-40 head couples chase into original places);

41-80 REPEAT Bars 1-40 WITH SIDE COUPLES leading on bars 29-40;

81-120 REPEAT Bars 1-40 BUT SUBSTITUTE CIRCLE LEFT IN BARS 28-32 AND HAND-IN-HAND REELS OF 4 IN Bars 33-40 (N.B partners switch hands at each end of the reel);

121-160 REPEAT Bars 81-120 WITH SIDE COUPLES LEADING on Bars 29-40.
