ROUND REEL OF EIGHT (R88) Sq.Set RSCDS Book 271-16 All Ladies cast and dance clockwise round outside of set back to place, Men repeat Fig but cast and dance anticlockwise round set
17-32 All dance Grand Chain ½ way (6 bars) and set to partner, continue Chain back to place (6 bars) and set to partner
33-40 1s+3s change places, 1s dancing between 3s (3 bars), repeat back to places, 3s dancing between 1s, 1s+3s turn RH into Allemande hold
41-48 1s+3s dance round inside of set anticlockwise in Allemande hold
49-64 2s+4s repeat Fig bars 33-48 with 2s dancing between 4s to start
65-88 1s+3s dance ½ R&L, 2s+4s dance ½ R&L, repeat back to places, all circle 8H round and back

Reel 88 bars 4 Couple Repeat 4 Couple Set Square Set
1-8 Ls cast clockwise and chase around the set to places;
9-16 Mn cast anticlockwise and chase around the set to places;
17-22 all grand chain halfway, finishing facing partner;
23-24 all set to partner;
25-32 repeat bars 17-24, finishing in places;
33-35 1s, with nearer hands joined, cross between 3s to exchange places with them, all finishing facing in;
36-38 3s, with nearer hands joined, cross between 1s to finish in places, 1s 3s facing partner;
39-40 1s 3s turn by the right into allemande hold, facing in;
41-48 in allemande hold, 1s 3s dance anticlockwise around the inside of the set, finishing in places;
49-64 2s dancing as 1s, 3s as 4s, repeat bars 33-48, finishing in places;
65-68 1s3s half rights and lefts;
69-72 2s4s half rights and lefts;
73-80 repeat bars 65-72, finishing in places;
81-88 all 8 hands round and back.

Dance Notes
17-22 This grand chain halfway requires careful phrasing: 1 bar each for partner and second corner, 2 bars each for opposite and first corner is particularly elegant.
33-38 Again, care is required with phrasing.
-35 At the end of the crossing, 3s turn towards each other, 1s away from each other.
41-48 1s 3s acknowledge side couples as they pass them.
