Scottish Country Dance Instruction

Rowena's Loops (J8x32) A 32 bar jig for three couples in a four couple longwise set, Murrough Landon July 2024

1- 4 1st couple turn one and a half times with the left hand, moving down to end left shoulder to each other across the set in 2nd place. 2nd couple step up on bars 3-4.
5- 8 1st woman with 2nd and 3rd men, also 1st man with 2nd and 3rd women, each dance right hands across. 1st couple pass right shoulder to face their 3rd corners.
9-12 1st couple, starting out of the sides, dance Corners Pass and Turn with their 3rd corners, looping round them by the right shoulder as the corners turn once round with the right hand. 1st couple pass right shoulder to face their 4th corners.
13-16 1st couple, starting out of the ends, turn their 4th corners with the right hand. 1st couple end right shoulder to each other across the set in 2nd place. The corners dance for 4 bars. 1st couple now repeat bars 5-16 with opposite hands and shoulders.
17-20 1st woman with 2nd and 3rd men, also 1st man with 2nd and 3rd women, each dance left hands across. 1st couple pass left shoulder to face their 4th corners.
21-24 1st couple, starting out of the sides, dance left shoulder Corners Pass and Turn with their 4th corners, looping round them by the left shoulder as the corners turn once round with the left hand. 1st couple pass left shoulder to face their 3rd corners.
25-28 1st couple, starting out of the ends, turn their 3rd corners with the left hand. 1st couple pass left shoulder to end facing out in 2nd place on the opposite side.
29-32 1st couple dance half way round the set clockwise to 2nd place on their own sides.
 Meanwhile 2nd and 3rd couples each dance back to back. The final order is 2,1,3.
