Dance Information

Ruthin Square is located in the historic market town of Ruthin, Denbighshire, North Wales.

The town is situated in the south of the Vale of Clwyd and is known for its rich history and picturesque surroundings. The square features a circular garden in the middle, surrounded by old buildings, and is a focal point for the town's heritage and community life.

One side of the square is home to the old courthouse, a restored timber-framed building dating back to the 14th century. Across the square, one can find Maen Huail, a large boulder steeped in legend. Additionally, the parish church of St Peter, with its medieval architecture and a 16th-century roof, is tucked away on one side of the square.

Ruthin itself has a long and fascinating history, spanning over 700 years, and is often associated with scandal, battle, and siege.

The town's name is derived from the Welsh words "rhudd" (red) and "din" (fort), reflecting the red sandstone found in the area and used in the construction of Ruthin Castle. The square and its surroundings offer a glimpse into the town's past, making it a significant historical and cultural site within Ruthin.
