Dance Information
Stonehaven, a town in Scotland on the northeast coast, had a population of 11,602 according to the 2011 Census.Following the decline of Kincardine, abandoned after the destruction of its royal castle in the Wars of Independence, Stonehaven became the successor county town of Kincardineshire. It is presently under the administration of the Aberdeenshire Council Area.
Originating from an Iron Age fishing village, now known as the "Auld Toon" or "old town", Stonehaven expanded inland from the seaside. Historical maps from the 16th century reveal the town's names as Stonehyve, Stonehive, and the alternative Duniness, while locals informally refer to it as Stoney.
