Scottish Country Dance Instruction
SWINGIN' (R8x32) 3C (4C set) Pam Stephens, 20181- 8 1s set and change places dancing La Baratte:
1s ½ turn RH, retain hand but at arm's length from each other
1L retraces steps with Lady turning right under Man's arm briefly into Allemande hold (Man behind Lady facing Ladies' original place) and releasing Ladies' RH she turns under Man's left arm until almost in original places
1s change places LH to opposite places
9-16 Mirror reels of 3 on sides (1s out/down, 2s in/up, 3s out/up). Bars 15-16: 1s+2s continue reel to change places. 2(1)3
17-20 1s dance down nearer hands joined (3 bars) change sides with 1M dancing below 1L and 1L dancing under 1M's raised arm
21-24 1s dance up (2 bars) and turn 3s nearer hands (Men LH, Ladies RH)
25-32 1s dance up to top and cast to 2nd place own side; 2s+1s+3s turn partner RH (or birl). 213

32-bar reel for three couples in a four-couple longwise set
1-8 1st couple set, change places with La Baratte, and finish facing out
9-14 Mirror reels of 3 on the sides: to begin 1st couple dance out and down, 2nd couple in and up, and 3rd couple out and up
15-16 1st couple and 2nd couple continue the reel to change places. 2(1)3
17-20 1st couple dance down, nearer hands joined, for 3 bars. On bar 4, 1st couple retain hands and change sides (1st man dance below partner as 1st woman turns under her left arm) and face up
21-24 1st couple dance up for 2 bars and turn 3rd couple once round with the handy hand (men with left; women with right)
25-28 1st couple dance to the top and cast off to 2nd place on own sides
29-32 All three couples birl with partners.
Repeat having passed a couple.
