Time Square - Scottish Country Dancing Instruction VideoDance Information
This dance was created by Peter Holmes of the Ribble Valley branch of the RSCDS, inspired by a holiday in New York which gave him the idea of the dance name. The formations resemble the gears of a clock, which inspired the name 'Time Square.'
Times Square is a major commercial intersection, tourist attraction, entertainment center, and neighborhood located in the Midtown Manhattan area of New York City.
It is formed at the junction of Broadway, Seventh Avenue, and 42nd Street. Along with the adjacent Duffy Square, Times Square creates a bowtie-shaped plaza that stretches for five blocks between 42nd and 47th Streets.
Previously called Longacre Square, Times Square was renamed in 1904 after The New York Times relocated its headquarters to the newly constructed Times Building, now known as One Times Square.
