Hopetoun House, one of Scotland's finest stately homes, is the traditional residence of the Earl of Hopetoun (later the Marquess of Linlithgow (pronounced "lin-lith-go")). Located near South Queensferry to the west of Edinburgh, Scotland, it was built 1699-1701 and designed by Sir William Bruce.
