Scottish Country Dance Instruction

Two's Company (S8x32) Graham Quartly, 6 Dances From Devon & Cornwall

1- 4 1st and 2nd couples advance for 1 bar giving right hand to partner and then retire, then both couples cross left hand
5- 8 1st and 2nd couples advance for 1 bar giving right hand to partner and then retire, then 1st and 2nd couples dance half left hands across (with 1st lady pulling back left shoulder at end to finish facing down)
9-16 1st couple dance a figure of 8 on their own sides, starting going down through 3rd couple, giving near hands when possible, and finish facing their own 1st corner
17-24 1st couple set to 1st corner and turn them with both hands, and then repeat with 2nd corner, ending in 2nd place on the opposite sides
25-32 All 3 couples circle once to the left (6 bars), with 1st couple crossing over right hand on bars 31-32.

Dance Notes

The first 8 bars is inspired by "Triple Happiness".

This is a very genteel unhurried dance, intended specially for novices, however the 6-bar circle to the left sometimes catches out some dancers.
