Scottish Country Dance Instruction

WAYNE ROBERTSON'S REEL 40R3 (4C set) Jack Pressley

1 - 12 1st, 2nd and 3rd couples dance Three Couple Rights and Lefts
13 - 16 1st couple set to each other and cast into second place (2nd couple step up on bars 15 - 16)
17 - 20 1st lady dances right hands across once round with 2nd couple, WHILE 1st man dances right hands across once round with 3rd couple and finish facing their first corner.
21 - 24 1st couple, giving right shoulder to first corner, dance a Half Diagonal Reel of four first corners, and passing each other giving right shoulder...
25 - 28 1st man dances left hands across once round with 2nd couple, WHILE 1st lady dances left hands across once round with 3rd couple
29 - 32 1st couple, giving left shoulder to second corners, dance a Half Diagonal LEFT shoulder Reel of Four with their second corners finishing in the middle facing each other (Lady facing up and man facing down).
33 - 36 1st couple dance Set twice to each other on second Set 1st couple then Set round to face out the ends, WHILE corners dance counter clockwise half way round set.
37 - 40 1st couple dance out the ends and cast round their partner's first corner to finish in second place on own side.

Repeat, having passed a couple.

This dance, Wayne Robertson's Reel, was devised by Jack Pressley, for Wayne Robertson who is one of the great Scottish accordionists who has been a long time friend of my wife Jamie and I.
