Video Notes
This sequence shows a fugal form of Advance and Retire for three couples in strathspey tempo; here, the Men (on the right in the foreground) Set while the Ladies Advance, Advance while the Ladies Retire and, finally, Retire while the Ladies Set.
Note that, albeit beautifully performed, the dance is presented in an educationally confusing way, all dancers being dressed identically and disposed in two, 3-couple sets with the lower set rotated through 180° so that all the dancers in that set are on opposite sides and the head couple is at the bottom.
