Amazing Grace Strathspey was devised by Betty MacKenzie for Renee Johnstone, teacher at Málaga class in Arroyo de la Miel, Spain, on her 85th birthday.

She was well known in the Dundee area (and to some Aberdeen RSCDS Branch members) before spending 30 years in Spain where she was regarded as the Matriarch of SCD in Spain and Portugal. Betty returned to Broughty Ferry (pronounced "brottie ferry") to live in Sheltered Housing in 2011.
