Dance Information

This dance was devised By Alex Gray and Published In "14 New Dances and Tunes Celebrating the Centenary of RSCDS Edinburgh Branch".
Joppa Rocks, located at the east end of Portobello Beach in Edinburgh, Scotland, are part of a rocky shoreline that becomes exposed at low tide.

These rocks are geologically significant as they are composed of sedimentary formations, primarily sandstone, and belong to the Carboniferous period, which dates back approximately 300 to 360 million years.

Historically, the area around Joppa Rocks has been associated with salt production in the 18th and 19th centuries. The nearby Joppa Salt Pans were a key industry, extracting salt by evaporating seawater.
