Scottish Country Dance Instruction
MY JOYFUL DANCER (J8x32) 3C (4C set) Anne Dejean The Walnut book 21- 4 1s set, cast (2s step up).
5- 8 1L dances RH across with 1st and 2nd corners
9-12 1M dances LH with 1st and 2nd corners
13-16 1L and corners set, 1L casts to original place as 2M dances down 2 places and 3M casts up 2 places while 1M and corners set
Order: Ladies' side 1L 2L 3L Men's side 3M 1M 2M
17-24 All dance Bourrel for 3 couples
17-20 3M+2L also 1M+3L set advancing and ¾ turn 2H to line up/down middle and twirl to end BtoB (Lady facing up, Man down) while 1L and 2M chase anticlockwise to face partner
21-24 All set to partners and turn 2H to own sides. 231
25-28 3M and 1L also 3L and 1M change places RH
29-32 1s+3s dance ½ double fig of 8, 1s cross down to start. 213

32-bar jig for three couples in a four-couple longwise set
1 - 4 1st couple set and cast off one place as 2nd couple move up.
5 - 8 1st woman dances right hands across once round with her corners.
9 - 12 1st man dances left hands across once round with his corners.
13 - 16 1st woman and her two corners set, then 1st woman casts up to original place as 2nd man dances down two places and 3rd man casts up two places, and while 1st man and his 2 corners set (on bars 15-16).
17 - 24 All dance a bourrel for three couples.
25 - 28 3rd man and 1st woman change places with the right hand, then 3rd woman and 1st man change places with the right hand.
29 - 32 1st and 3rd couples dance a half double figure of eight, 1st couple starting crossing down.
Repeat, having passed a couple.

This jig, My Joyful Dancer, was devised for my daughter, who loves dancing, different types of dances, among which Scottish country dances.Suggested tune: City Lights from RSCDS Book 52.
