Scottish Country Dance Instruction

The Roaring Forties (R8x40) 3C (4C set) Lewis N Derrick 2023

1-8 Giving right hands, the 1st couple turn one and a half times then cast off into second place on opposite sides and, giving left hands, turn once round to face first corners; the 2nd couple step up on bars 5-6
9-16 Giving right shoulders to begin, the 1st couple dance a diagonal reel of four with their first corners, turning by the left hand to face second corners at the end of the reel
17-24 Giving right shoulders to begin, the 1st couple dance a diagonal reel of four with their second corners, ending facing first corners again
25-32 The 1st couple turn first corners by the right hand, partners by the left hand, second corners by the right hand and partners three-quarters round by the left hand to end side-by-side in the centre facing opposite sides
33-36 Right hands across, the 1st woman with the 2nd couple, the 1st man with the 3rd couple, the 1st couple pass right shoulders at the end
37-40 Left hands across, the 1st man with the 2nd couple, the 1st woman with the 3rd couple, the 1st couple end in second place own sides
