The Rough Wooing (J4x32) 4C set Lewis N Derrick 20241-8 Eight hands round and back
9-10 All set on sides, hands joined
11-12 The 1st and 2nd couples and 3rd and 4th couples link on own sides to end 2143
13-14 All set on sides, hands joined
15-16 The 2nd and 3rd couple set again facing in while, the 1st and 4th couples link on own sides to end 2413 with the 4th couple facing down and the 1st couple facing up
17-24 Grand chain, to begin the 2nd and 3rd couple cross at the ends while the 4th and 1st couple change places on sides, end with polite turns where necessary
25-28 With hands joined on sides, all advance and retire
29-32 All clap and turn partners twice round using right elbow hold (see note 1): Repeat three more times from new positions each time

Dance Information
The title of this dance is an ironic name for the Eight Years' War (1543–1551), the last major conflict between Scotland and England before the Union of the Crowns in 1603.Suggested tune: Banks of Allan.
