Scotch broth is a traditional soup consisting of lamb or mutton, barley, and vegetables like carrots, turnips, and leeks.

It's known for its hearty and nourishing qualities, with a robust flavour resulting from the slow simmering of ingredients. Seasoned with herbs such as thyme and parsley, Scotch broth offers a comforting and substantial eating experience. This food has been part of British cooking for a long time and is valued for its simplicity and comforting warmth, especially in cold weather.

The main ingredients are usually barley, stewing or braising cuts of lamb, mutton or beef, root vegetables such as carrots, swedes or sometimes turnips and dried pulses.
