A Wedding In Dauphiné (R32x4) 32 Bar Reel for 4 Couples in a 4 Couple Set, devised by Martin Sheffield (1999). Published in 140 Scottish Country Dances.1-8 1s lead down between 3s, cross and cast up to 2nd place (2s move up on bars 3&4)
2s, 1s and 3s set
9-16 2s, 1s and 3s advance and retire, dance a half turn RH with their partner to end in the middle of the set all nearer hands joined, with 2s and 3s facing down, 1s and 4s facing up (4s move in on bar 14) all 4 couples set
17-24 all 4 couples dance arches (with 2 steps per move), 1s and 4s raising hands to begin and then alternating ; on reaching 1st or 4th place, dancers change sides with ladies dancing under joined hands in 2 steps
2s and 3s dance down as 1s and 4s dance up making arches - 1(2)4(3)
1s and 3s change sides and direction turning under joined arms while 2s making arch dance down as 4s dance up - (1)4(2)3
1s and 2s dance down as 4s and 3s dance up making arches - 4(1)3(2)
4s and 2s change sides and direction turning under joined arms while 1s making arch dance down as 3s dance up - (4)3(1)2
25-32 4s and 3s, along with 1s and 2s dace 4 hands round to the left
4s and 1s dance down half figure of eight (4s around 3s, 1s around 2s)

This dance was devised as a wedding present for Sophie and Lionel and given to them on their wedding day on July 10th, 1999.The dance was performed in the family garden where the reception took place.
As a child, Sophie learned French traditional dances from the Dauphiné and didn't discover Scottish Country Dancing until she was 20.
Martin Sheffield was her first SCD teacher.
