Scottish Country Dance Instruction

1- 4 1st and 3rd couples cross giving right hands and cast off one place as 2nd and 4th couples step up.
5- 8 1st man with 2nd couple, 1st woman and 3rd man with 4th couple, and 3rd woman with 5th couple, dance right hands across. 1st and 3rd couples end facing their 3rd corners.
9-12 1st and 3rd couples each dance half a right shoulder diagonal reel of four with their 3rd corners and pass right shoulders to face their 4th corner positions.
 Meanwhile 2nd woman and 5th man each chase clockwise half way round the set to the opposite corner: 5th man's and 1st woman's places respectively.
13-16 1st and 3rd couples each dance half a right shoulder diagonal reel of four with their 4th corner positions and pass right shoulders to face their 1st corner positions.
 Meanwhile 4th woman and 4th man each chase clockwise half way round the set to the opposite corner: 5th woman's and 1st man's places respectively. As they start their chase 4th couple dance in front of 1st woman and 3rd man who are starting their half reel. This requires a little anticipation from the end of the preceding half reel.
17-20 1st and 3rd couples each dance half a right shoulder diagonal reel of four with their 1st corner positions and end passing right shoulder to face their partner on the 1st diagonals.
 Meanwhile 5th woman and 2nd man each chase clockwise half way round the set to the opposite corner: 5th man's and 1st woman's places respectively. 2nd, 4th and 5th couples end on the opposite side in 1st, 3rd and 5th places.
21-24 1st and 3rd couples each half turn their partner with the right hand to face their 1st corner positions. 1st and 3rd couples turn those in their 1st corner positions three quarters with the left hand to end with all on the opposite side in the order 2,1,4,3,5. All face anticlockwise.
25-30 All chase half way round anticlockwise to end opposite their partner on their own side in the order 5,3,4,1,2.
31-32 All set.
