6 Couple Repeat In 6 Couple Set

Dances with the format, 6 Couple repeat in 6 couple set, are quite rare; the format is simply called a 6 Couple set since there is, as yet, no risk of ambiguity with any other Longwise set format.

The Full set requires six Couples and the dance usually consists of six Repeats, each involving all six Couples, with each Couple dancing once through in each Place.

Quite commonly, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd couples perform Figures at the Top of The set WHILE the 4th, 5th and 6th couples perform a reflected form of the same Figures at the Bottom of The set, as in The Bonny Bells of Heather.

Dances for which cribs (sometimes only a crib diagram) are available on this site and which have the 6 Couple repeat in a 6 couple set format are listed by tempo in Alternative Dance Selections. Note that Medleys having this format are included in Medley Dances In Longwise Sets which covers all Longwise sets.
