John Johnson, often referred to as Jno Johnson, or simply Johnson, was an English music publisher, instrument maker, and seller active in 18th-century London.
Established in 1740, his business is thought to have incorporated stock from the earlier publishers Daniel Wright and Benjamin Cooke, as Johnson reprinted some of their original works. Rising to prominence as John Walsh's dominance in English publishing waned, Johnson became known for publishing music by composers such as Thomas Arne, Francesco Geminiani, and Domenico Scarlatti. His publications, often dated and of high engraving quality, included popular collections of country dances, some released annually.
After Johnson's presumed death around 1762, publications began appearing under the imprint of "Mrs. Johnson" or "R. Johnson," likely his widow.
Many of his publications were later attributed to others.
